Under the Misty Mountains

Yep, I went to see the premiere of The Hobbit last night, and I just had to this!
I loved the movie and can't wait to see the next installment.
Here's my take on Gollum's Cave, located under Hithaeglir (the Misty Mountains):

Online Portfolio + Exposé 10

Finally, after days of smashing my head on the keyboard struggling with html, css and the website design itself, I managed to finish my online portfolio! I'm very happy with the final version and can only hope that you like it too!
So go check it out and tell me what you think:

(Oh, and I finally came up with a signature!)
I'll still update my blog though, with WIP's, news, etc...

And talking about news...
"The new artbook is here! The new artbook is here! Page 213 - Diego D'Andrea! I'm somebody now!"
I got my hands on my new baby, and I'm so honored to be part of this.

New Old Project

Back when I was in College I started developing a platformer game.
I did only a one-level-demo at that time, but I really liked the idea and appeal of it.

I'm currently thinking about bringing it back to life and redesigning the whole thing.
Here are some sketches of the main character animations and expressions:

And some posing:

Hopefully you'll hear more about that soon...

Bobby's World - painting

I've been willing to paint that Bobby's World sketch I did for a long time, and now I finally did it!
I simply love that cartoon! Here it is, hope you like it!

I'm having a bit of a fanboy moment here, as Howie Mandel himself (creator of the show and Bobby's dad) said he loved the painting:
I'm more than flattered!

Art dump

Here's something that I've been working on lately. It was supposed to be a facebook social game of a brazilian reality show set in a farm, but, unfortunately, the game project was cancelled.
It took me some time to set the art direction of the game but I was really happy with how it turned out. I might explore this oversaturated style a bit more in my next cartoon paintings.

And more artwork from another project that didn't see the light of day: This would be for a iPhone/Android game:

In other news, my painting Fiery Bond has been selected for inclusion on Exposé 10!!
I'ts my first time being featured in print and I can't wait to get my hands on it!

Oh, and I added the "Followers" widget right there on the right side of the page, so you can follow me and keep track of my posts.

Chapolin meets Kickass

So, a couple of days ago I saw this video, and decided to do my own take on this parallel universe badass Chapolin.
For those who don't know Chapolin is the main character of self-titled mexican television series!

I know it's been a while, but I've been busy with some other projects that, hopefully, I'll reveal soon!
Meanwhile, here's what I did in the last couple of days:
Had lots of fun and learned some new tricks doing this one!

And here some details in full resolution:

By the way, you can expect the numbers of fantasy illustrations to increase around here! hahaha

Wish upon a star

I always loved aurora borealis. I don't know why I never painted one before!
So that's it for today's sketch!

27 February 2012

Hi everyone!
Carnival ended last week and here I am, back again!
But there's no sketch for today. I'm still working on that painting I showed you before. I'm busy with some other projects, but, hopefully, I'll finish it soon.

In other news, my Vermin Supreme illustration is already avaliable as t-shirt on his Official Merch Store!!!

Buy it and show your support for a better world.
A world where everyone will have their own pony!

Avast! - preview

Hi everyone! Sorry for not posting yesterday..
I started working on a huge piece of artwork and didn't have time to do anything else.
But, to keep things going, here's a little preview of what I've been working on:

There are many more things going on around the captain, but I isolated him to not show much of the action. ;)
I'm very excited with this one, so the Daily Sketches won't be so daily until I finish it.. But, trust me, it'll worth it!

Stars and Fireflies

Happy Valentine's day for those who celebrate it today!
(Here in Brazil it's celebrated on June 12)

Oh, and here is the forever alone version! (without the couple) ;)

Just a hipster flying tree.
You've probably never heard of it! hahahah

Today's sketch coming soon.

Up in the sky

Today's daily sketch:

12 February 2012

and at dusk, they rise

It started as the daily sketch for friday but I decided to finish it up. Unfortunately I wasn't able to finish it then and this weekend I moved to another apartment. Only today I had time to finish it, and here it is.
Had much fun doing these dragons. One of my favourite subjects ever!
It took me approx. 6 hours to do it from scratch!

Willy Wonka

When I saw "Happy Chocolate Day" trending on twitter, I knew exactly what to draw for today's daily sketch. Here's my spin on Mr. Willy Wonka:

Vermin Supreme - Color

So, apparently Mr. Vermin himself liked the sketch I did yesterday. And here it is, the colored version! This is probably going to be on his merch site. More details later.

UPDATE: Somebody pointed out that, based on the My Little Pony's World, this pink pony can't do the "sonic rainboom" (that rainbow trail)!
Little ponies, serious business..
I'll fix that and update it later today.

UPDATE: Ok, here's the fixed version:

(23 Feb 2012)
UPDATE: You can already buy it on the Official Merch Store and support the pony/zombie based economy!

Vermin Supreme

I had much fun doing this one. I'm probably going to color it later.

For those of you who may not know him, he is running for president of the United States. Watch this clip and understand the context:

Colored version here!
And it's already avaliable as t-shirt on his Official Merch Store! You can buy it here!

Dorothy in the cyclone

Ok, so today is national Comic Book day here in Brazil and I decided to kick off my Daily Sketches with Dorothy and Toto, from the lovely "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" comic book adaptation with art from Skottie Young, which I'm currently reading.
Hope you like it!

Hopeful Warrior Updated

I'm currently building my portfolio website and while I was gathering my illustrations I realized that the warrior in this one was so poorly drawn that I had to do it again, and well.

So here it is: "Hopeful Warrior" updated and a quick WIP shot (open in another window/tab to see it full size).

Back Again

Wow, it's been quite a while right?
I apologize for the lack of updates and wish you all a (very) belated Happy New Year!

So, how are you keeping up with your new year's resolutions?
I got a bunch of ideas for personal works written down and am looking forward to start shaping them up into real things.

One of them is to redesign a 2D platformer game that I started developing in college. More details on that coming soon.

Also, for this year (hopefully this month), I'm gonna put up my online portfolio with my illustrations and leave this blog for more blogging, like daily sketches, updates on projects and so on...

Well, that is it!
Thanks for sticking around and 'til soon!
